DMC Global Studios

photo

Global Studios are international standard spots for digital communication with capabilities of high-speed networking which enable high quality video/audio communication with remote sites.

We are constructing Global Studios in North America (San Francisco and New York City), Europe (Cambridge, UK) and Asia (Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo), as a set of international bases. This network of Global Studios is attracting the attention of many interested parties, and its participants are expected to grow in coming years.

***

The Global Studio Technology is an extension of element technologies which were originally developed and tested at Graduate School of Media and Governance, Keio University, and further developed at the DMC Institute under the concept of a participation-based global set of studios.

We have packaged the technologies, and united them with the community of research and development networks so that Global Studio Technology will become not merely a remote conference system but a participation-based tool for propelling global international collaborations.

We now have Global Studios at Yonsei University, Korea and Tsinghua University, China, operated by the respective universities, and in San Francisco operated collaboratively between DMC Institute and the WIDE Project. Those studios are connected with the studio at Mita Campus, Keio University, and were introduced at the international symposium in March 2006 (go to the article).

The studio at Cambridge University launches in August 2006, and the one at Japan Society in New York City will open in September 2006.
